As an artist, I do a lot of arts & crafts shows. It’s always difficult to find display units that fit in my car. So, I finally decided to make my own. This was my second attempt at a display. (The first one was a folding table that I now use as a workshop table.)

This one starts with a simple frame built of 1×4 using pocket holes. The side panels are 1/8” plywood with 1×2 added for both strength and to give the shelves a place to rest. The side panels are hinged to the back frame so that it folds flat.

The 1/8” plywood front panel attaches to the main unit with Velcro so I can easily access the storage underneath.

The shelves have a front lip to keeps items from falling off and 1×2 cleats at the ends to keep them from sliding. The shelves are all glued and stapled to a single piece of carpeting so they can be rolled up for transport and storage.

The front panel, side panels, shelves, and top of the back frame are all carpeted.

It works very well for displaying my artwork, and the best part is that it fits in my Toyota Corolla wagon.
