Finally finished the bedroom dresser (mirror image copy on other side of bed). The idea came from a furniture catalog my wife pointed out. It was on the “to-do-list” for only ten years, no need to get in a big hurry. I was pleased with the design and construction fit, but less than thrilled about the blotchy stain on the birch plywood (even after pre-conditioning). My wife was very pleased with the outcome (I think she dare not complain lest another 10+ years lapse before getting another project off the “list”.

keep in mind that blotch and figure are the same things, only one is pleasing to the eye. at least from the pictures its seems to be more a cool figure than blotch to me.

very cool design and great contrast in wood tones. It looks to me like the birch just needs about 3 coats of good shellac,,,, will make the figure pop right off the board, ,,,give it a try.,, you’ll love it

Love the design and great looking build. That’s a, pass down the family piece. Really fits that space well. I need something like that on both sides of my bed in my small bedroom. Cool….............

Very nice design. The blotching gives it an aged rustic look in the photos. I think DaN may be right. A few coats of Shellac may really bring it out. Very nice. What’s the next 10-year project :) ?

Greg,

I’m looking at it and Tansu came to my mind as well, goes with the soji?
