Well Randy has gotten into pen turning and I must say I think he is doing really good at it… He has alot still to learn but he is having fun learning it all… Here are several of the pens he has turned…

I’d say he’s doing OK.
Is this on the cheap $20 lathe you got him?

-- No piece is cut too short. It was meant for a smaller project.

Thank you all for the great comments he really is enjoying his new hobby… Sawdust the $20 lathe as we have found is only good to take up space in the shop… He went and got a Central Machinery Mini Lathe and it works like a charm… But now that being said both really do not like HF tools I call them the disposable machines.. But it serves the purpose until a better one can take its place..

Ah, the woodworker malady.

Get hooked with the cheap stuff and then go spend the bigger bucks.

Worked right this time.

I think that is what Norman said in his interview re: General Company. .. “buy up” and grow into the tool rather than regretting the purchase as your skills grow.
