First let me start by apologizing for the second picture, it was late and I needed a completed photo because it needed to be shipped out the following day. This was my first time using ambrosia maple and I never realized what kind of rabbit holes those beetles can create. I can’t even begin to explain how many times I had to reapply epoxy to fill those holes!! The veteran who requested this shadowbox really loved the box I had built for my Captain and wanted something similar. As it just got mailed off yesterday, I can’t wait to hear how much she enjoys it.

Nicely done. Glad you didn’t give up on the holes and I’m sure it will be well received.

Well it was, all the occupancies are filled it would appear.

I’m not sure if I understand the issues the holes caused you? Maybe it’s me that is goofy once again, but I just use it and finish it like the holes aren’t even there. The Ambrosia beetles that caused them are long gone, and the holes, and the resulting streaks made when the beetles go through is what makes it Ambrosia Maple.

Before I ever build the shadowbox I knew that I wanted to fill the holes with epoxy, I just didn’t expect to fill them with as much epoxy as I did.

Very impressive Shadow box. The MSgt will be very proud of it. I still have to build mine and may incorporate some of your features. Dan SMSgt USAFR Retired.

I received some very kind words from the recipient of this shadowbox yesterday; to say she was ecstatic would be an understatement!!
