More fund raising fun with a Wooden Toy Tip Truck full of lollies.
Yes another “GUESSING COMPETITION” for the local Boys & Girls Club.
You guess the correct number of lollies [candy] in the back of the truck and you win both the truck and the lollies [the funds being put towards new equipment].
I tried a number of different things to make this truck a little more special and spent way more time building it than I probably should have, but hopefully it’s both attractive and strong
The rear axle pivots while the tipper pivot is the fill width of the tray; furniture buttons for headlights.
The front is a mixture of merbau, red cedar, pacific maple and red gum.
The back is marine ply, oak and blackheart sassafras.
The finish is homemade wipe on poly.

A good cause and a very well designed and made toy too.

I do like that it is “playable” and still realistic enough for a shelf if you decided to do that!

Great job Crowie, love the truck and reason for it.

Blackheart Sassafras! been doing a bit of logging in the Blue Mountains National Park have we?

Pete collecting material for his truck project

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-08-07/logging-in-national-parks-good-for-vulnerable-species-says-timb/6679074

But on a more serious note:
It looks like you have every specis covered in the truck Pete.
Well done and for a very good cause as well.
A question: How did you do the circles on the uprights in front of the tray?

Now weekend 14 15 October or Monday 16 will you be home I have a delivery to drop off.
The family and I will be going to a street decication activity in Bathurst Monday 16 Oct.

ROB, the Blackheart Sassafras came as two fruit boxes of offcut from a tree clearer/miller in country Victoria, all very legal sir!
The upright bits behind the cab, in front of the tray are to represent the exhaust stacks, hopefully cleverly put out of the way to stop the possibility of breakage. I mill the stock square then carefully mark out all the centres before using a sharp brad point drill bit to lightly mark the “circles” along the timber piece before gluing it/them in place. I’ve done similar of other trucks Rob.
YES, I showed be home on that day thank you, RING me to confirm a time for a cuppa & refreshments.
