My daughter got this beautiful print and I thought it would be a great opportunity to make a frame for it. It’s red oak with a cherry finish. Stained then hit with the poly. I found the staining and finishing was easy when I did it right before I cut my mitered corners. It’s easier to work with a 6-foot board than four small ones. I also added small walnut splines on the corners to class it up a little. I’m not sure how well it shows in the photo but the wider facing edge of the wood is sightly tapered in towards the print, with a 3D effect – it’s all one wide board.

This was only my second frame so I was happy when only one of the mitered corners was slightly off. I’m my own worst critic.

Such painting deserves such frame.
