Ah yes, where to start… (cough)

An old friend of mine contacted me recently asking for a custom project, telling me she’s into certain, how shall I say…”adult activities”. I was like “yeah right!?” ... she was like, “no, seriously” ... and I was like “yeah right?!” ... and she was like, “no, seriously”. Turns out she was dead serious… ha!

So, what the hell, I gave it a shake. Rock maple, dovetail/dowel joinery, red velvet storage compartment, Ipe brackets, brass screws & eyelets, leather sewn upholstery, nuts/bolts for easy shipping & re-assembly, and a large helping of love.

Different strokes for different folks, right? She loved it! Maybe I have a new career avenue here!?

Very nicely done.

I hope the customer was pleased so that you did not have to be punished. :-)

Mmmm.. not really a detailed plan, rough dimensions and what not, but a lot of decisions were made off the cuff while constructing… I could dig it up if you have a “friend” who wants one.. hahahahaha

i guess i could just make up some false history and tell my mom its what the nuns used to use when they spanked the students with the ruler (but i’m guessing she’d know better than that) – haha…even though shes soo old fashioned i dont think she’d realize this was for sexual endeavors! :)

very cool bench! did you sew it yourself? i’ve been trying to get into upholstery – havent done a bead like that yet…looks really good

Oh the upholstery… typical “bit off more than I could chew” scenario. After I made a shit show of it, my awesome neighbor saw it, and then stepped in and did the sewing for me (she and her husband obviously have an awesome sense of humor)—she’s an expert quilter. she made the bead starting with a small cotton rope, folded a strip of upholstery around it, sewed that, and then inserted the bead into the seam where the sides join the top. As a “thank you”, I blew about $250 of the commission on a really nice dinner for them and me & my girlfriend at a super nice Italian restaurant. I do woodworking for the fun of it, what the hell, right? :)

I can just picture you telling your company it is a prayer bench and then them opening the top up and seeing all the toys stashed… not sure how you would explain those ;)

Love it G. Especially how you deferred it or passed it off as if it was for a customer… ;)

$250 for four dinners? You could have had pizza delivered, watched the all game, and saved some $$$$$.
