Yeah, that’s about all the free wood I can get here in Paris. But I have plans for this pallet. The big thing is that it was still covered with plastic, so the slats are perfectly clean! Not good for a stacked bandsaw box but good for a cabinet. Off to sanding, TTYL.

Hey free wood is free wood- and Mads will be jealous that you beat him to it. :) I have seen some people here on L/J make some really beautiful things from pallet wood. You will too! :)

Funnily, my ISP is named “Free” too – though french. At their beginning, they provided free modem access. I love everything Free ;p

@ sapir: it’s french pine :)

Dude, I brought home two of them yesterday. That thin wood is perfect for doing laminated stock!

I just bought a planer, because of the amount of oak that is on the pallets we through away at work.

I love it there is no such thing as waste wood unless its rotten with worm ,then it keeps us warm as firewood or it’s sawdust great for smokin’ salmon. Everything else is a project!

Yup – plus spalted wood has the added advantage for smoking salmon of adding the mushrooms smell ^^

Really? I wouldn’t think that kind of fungus is edible, or something to impart flavor into food. sounds iffy.

Well, it IS toasted fungus. You wouldn’t believe some of the stuff that gets put in perfume in small quantities, that if there were more of it, would gag a maggot. Do you drink beer? That starts out as a substance that fungus (yes, yeast is a fungus) thrives in, and then dies in its own excrement. Then humans drink it. Mmmmmm…beer!

That’s a good score, I make nearly everything out of pallet wood.
It’s a joy to make things of it. it’s sometime a pain in the …..
to get the nails out. But using a Reciprocating saw is doing miricles.
Good luck
