Experimenting with Celtic Knots

I have seen other LJs post their projects incorporating Celtic knots in their designs. I always thought it looked cool but I had never tried it. So after watching several YouTube videos on how it is done I decided to try it. At the same time I was also experimenting making laminated blanks for turning. Photo 2 shows my effort in combining the two. I really like these design methods and it gives me an opportunity to use up much of my wood scraps. I love to learn!! Thanks for looking!

Those are great Lee. Looks like you had a copy machine making them match perfectly. I also want to give them a try some day. I guess it will be a winter learning process.

Very nice work Lee! Sometimes experiments turn out perfect just the ones I see here. Your work is always interesting. Love it!

Hi Dave, thanks they are close “but no cigar” as they say. I would like to build a duplicating machine for my lathe sometime.

Thanks Tony. Most of what I do is out of curiosity. I guess that is what keeps me going!!

They look really nice! The pattern matches nice and even. Hard to believe they are just tests!

Thanks for the kind words Jeff. Precision isn’t one of my strong suits so I was pleased with the results.

Thanks Petey.

Thanks Tony, it is all in the prep work and the jigs.

Amazing work, Lee! You have a good eye and the skills to make a set look like they were made off a duplicator.
