These daggers first wood projects that I did. The only tool that was used was the belt/disc sander. When I was making them the power tools I was allowed to use were the sander and cordless drill. The wood was just some pine scraps that I got my hands on. The blades of both daggers have a oval cross section. I achieved this by setting the blade flat on the belt sander then rocking it back and forth from the center of the blade to the edges of the blades. On the larger of the two daggers the “cut outs” on the sides were done by pressing the edge of the blade into the roller of the belt sander. I never put a finish on them. I don’t remember the dimensions of the wood I used. I just stuck the wood to the sander and shaped until I had a shape I liked.

Nice! Its amazing what you can make on a belt sander! I invert my belt sander and clamp it to a table for many projects- often time I can make shape spatulas 100% using them. Make good gifts and also sell well! Great job!

If those were the first projects you did, “where/when was the “Ninja Dagger you gave your Sister?

Shows remarkable growth, pretty soon you will have a big collection of cutlery.

How old are you, and is this from watching Dad, school shop, or self taught? It’s awesome that the wood is already telling you what it needs to become. Keep at it.

Those are my first all wood projects. I had two metal knife projects completed before these were made (if it wasn’t apparent I’m obsessed with blades. These daggers were made about three years back in the spring time. After I made them I started on my sister’s blade. It took that summer, fall, winter and into the following spring to complete the blade.

I am currently 26 years old. I can say that some of what I know came from watching and helping my dad do house remodeling. The rest came from watch youtube videos and teaching myself how to use the tools.

I wish I had more time to devote to the craft, but life has a way blocking that from happening. Oh well, I’ll be uploading my latest project when the sun decides to show it’s face again so I can get a good picture of it.
