This tile design was my first … Memphis … about 8 years ago.

The plaster mold is worn / broken and repaired.
Made from a mahogany carving I did with a harbor freight air pencil.
Design for this tile inspired from a famous Ernest Batchelder work.
Frame is inspired by works by Charles Rohlfs.T
he scalloped edge design on the frame came from one of his clocks.

Frame is quartersawn white oak.
Book matched, homemade tablesawn 3/8inch thick veneers glued to quartersawn white boards.

Dark oak alchohol dye stain, General finishes mahogany oil stain, seedlac french polish and dark wax.

tile has a bronzed acid patina finish

Dan, I really like the tile in this one. The frame is very nice, great rays in the oak. Another great frame and tile….

very well done, Dan. Really neat wood on the frame and the tile is exceptional for a first.

Dan – beautiful as always. I like the tile – but your frames are just outstanding. This frame just may be my favorite.

I agree—the tile is lovely.. but the frame. Gosh it is gorgeous. The tile and the frame compliment each other perfectly.
