I built this clock for my sister for Christmas. Made from quarter-sawn white oak and cherry. This is the first time I ever made a clock or worked with these two woods. I tried to fume the oak, but it didn’t turn out the way I was hoping. I will have to tinker around with that method a little more. After the fume, I applied 1 coat of amber shellac, then wiped on some brown stain, another coat of shellac, then finished with 2 coats of arm-r-seal.

I’m not sure what you were hoping for, but what you got sure looks nice. I’ve been looking for a presentation for the three inserts you’ve used and I really like yours.

I like it a great design. Sorry your experiment with fuming went south. But great recovery.
