It’s been about 10-15 years since I made a pair of these chairs.
The first wood working project I ever did was a pair of adirondack chairs, about 30 years ago.
This pair will be part of our wedding gift package to one of our daughters.
These are made out of cedar decking. Also, painted all of the screws and bolts black.
Penofin exterior oil was applied to all wood parts before assembly.

Excellant gift. I am sure you will get thanks and questions. Maybe even requests. I used the Woodsmith plans and it got many requests.

Lowes is the nearest, so that’s where I purchased the decking. Menards, also, carries. My next pair, will be made from clear cedar. For that I will have to go to my local specialty lumber supplier. A little more costly, but worth it.
On a side note, I made a pair for a fund raiser, about 10 years ago, to be auctioned off. After the auction, someone inquired about purchasing a pair or four. I gave them a friends and family price. Their response was they could purchase a plastic molded one from Wal-Mart for $12. My response was, “Yes you can!” QED
