I was asked to build these for the folk school in Luzerne N.Y. for their weaving classes. They are made from our local white ash. I love working with this wood for its straight grain, strength and clean look! When I started these I had no Idea what they were. I guess they work ok, I took the first picture today at the school. It’s a project by Gail G’s grand daughter. If your going to be in our area you can take a weaving class at (518) 696-2400

Very fun. I’ve built 2 for my daughter who is quite the weaver among her SCA Society friends. A great thing to get any young adult started in.

There have been a couple of other Inkle looms posted:

David posted a link to Sketchup plans. His plans are a little different from my design (or Rainman’s, from what I can see). My design was inspired by Robert Karl's version.

Coincidentally, we were introduced to inkle weaving at Silver Bay, where we summer each year. We’ve been wanting to get down to the ADK—maybe this will motivate us!

Looks like someone is doing a “cath dath dicing” pattern, although it is traditionally red and white, not blue and white.

Nice job. Reminds me to get my own out of moth balls and use it.
