Spalted Birch Bowl

I saved this wood from the dump. It came out of a friend’s yard. It only has walnut oil on it so far. I am trying to figure out what kind of finish it would look best with. Besides the spalting there are some cool insect holes that go all the way through.

NICE LOOKING BOWL, LOOKS LIKE IT WARPED A LITTLE ON YOU. I LIKE NATURAL THING IN MY TURNINGS LIKE WORM HOLES, BARK INCLUSIONS ETC. MAKES THEM LOOK MORE NATURAL. EVEN WARPAGE.

Great save Chris. My eyes may be going on me but I don’t see the warpage. This bowl looks terrific. Nice job.

Nice shape, nice rim on that one, nice piece of wood, glad to see it didn’t make the fire pit.

Good job.

I like the return on the rim. That little bit of slope really freshens up the shape. Nice.

Beautiful curve. Amongst the nicest I’ve seen here. Those perfect shapes are hard to come by. Wish I could get one.

Great form and shape on this piece, I really like it. How big is it?
