This is a cane I made from Osage Orange from a hedge row my great grandpa planted back in the 40’s. My dad and I went along the hedge and picked up several limbs. First cane I ever made. I did it just to prove to myself I could do it. And I’m pretty happy with it. The staff is a good 1” dia. The handle is doweled. Several coats of Watco super clear satin laquer. I may be using it myself, hopefully not for 30yrs or so.

Greatjob. I’ve always wanted to try osage orange, but can’t find any around here anymore (used to have some in local parks, but they were cut down). I’ll warn you – cane making can be addictive. :)

Thanks for posting.
