An addition to the table

A couple weeks ago I posted a table made of spalted maple with a questionable leg set. I still have a hard time seeing wood legs but I did get a set of slanted (about 10 degrees) hairpin legs. I think it made a big difference and my wife likes it a lot better.
Now getting to this project. While waiting for the leg sets to arrive, I was still staring at a left over piece of the splated maple. It was destined to be scrap HOWEVER – my shop seldom has scrap, ask anybody that has tried to walk thru it.
This is the result of my hoarding is a wall hanger – it could well be a planned addition to the table ( that’s my story and I’m sticking to it ) or just a simple piece of art on the wall. I did frame it exactly as the table and installed a wire hanger so it’s your choice, let me know what you think.

If that spalted stuff is “scrap” I’ll offer to pay for postage to get it off your hands.

I can see that new addition as the door to a shallow cabinet. Has the Mrs got a spice hoarding space in the kitchen?

Sweet, that beautiful wood deserves to be seen. If it were mine, I’d figure a way to use 100% of it down to the last splinter.

Very pretty.

As a “wood rescuer”/AKA “hoarder; I do know what you mean. Every once in a while though, I do have to have fire in the outside fireplace to use up some of it to keep walking and working room in the shop. I also sometime raid the actual firewood pile for turning blanks.

I like the new legs better than the old, too. Good choice and the “scrap” piece is just destined to hang on the wall above the table – was meant to be! I’m a scrap hoarder too – shoot, I’ve got pieces not a couple inches long or wide I know will have the perfect use someday!
