This is one of nine keepsake boxes that I built for my grandchildren. I had some cherry that I could not use on my fireplace mantel because of the unusual grain and the pitch holes, I was also concerned that would not be stable enough to use in the fireplace. The boxes are 7 9/16” wide x 3 9/16 high x 3 5/8” deep. The side of the box is the high figured Cherry, top is made from Cherry, Birch, and Purple Heart the base Honduras Mahogany, The finish is 4 coats satin spray lacquer. I made the box joint using a jig on my router table.

Great job, Jake. A lovely box that shows much attention to detail. I really like the multi-wood top and the base.

Keep up the great work.

Wonderful work Jake. Nothing like making something beautiful out of some left over wood. Love it. Thanks for sharing…
