Cigar Box Ukulele—Blue Haze Number 3. A ‘Triple-Seven’ box. Cherry Neck with walnut fretboard. Gold frets, gold tuners, brass sound-hole trim ring and brass on Plexiglas bridge. Only the second ‘scarf-joint’ neck I’ve made but it worked out well. Walnut ‘ears’ on the headstock. Concert/Standard size, 15” scale. Sound hole trim is a brass bath tube/shower drain cover from the orange flavored big-box store. Dot markers are maple. Also includes a piezo pickup under the bridge inside the box. This uke making is addictive and fun, I’ve got two more started already.

Interesting pieces Dennis. Functional folk art at it’s finest. Love this sort of thing and the graphics on them really make the pieces pop. Nice job and thanks for letting us take a look.

Very nice!! I have a friend who works at a cigar shop who makes these. she sells them before they’re finished!!! she also make purses and clocks out of cigar boxes.

I really like your cigar box ukes. I have been thinlking about attempting one this winter. I know you offered to do a blog once before if anyone was interested. I definitely am. Keep up the good work and I may PM you for help when I get started.

Thanks for the great comments. Be glad to hear from any of you here or PM and will certainly try my best to help if I can. I do want to do a blog, just haven’t had the time. I’ll try to blog it in stages maybe, starting with the neck on the next one I start.
