Grease Pot

I’m almost an official member of the club – just need to mix up some grease. I’ll probably do a mixture of beeswax and mineral oil (I’d appreciate your recipes if you’ve got them).

The box is about 3” x 5” and 2” high. The base is made of bubinga and the top is curly, sappy cherry – both pieces were leftovers in my, “maybe I can make something small out of this piece one day…” box. The finish is a quick wipe down of tung oil. I did manage to find an old slotted screw to reuse and I plan to add a small magnet in the opposite corner to help keep it closed.

Oh, and this was my fist off center turning – I ended up removing two of the jaws from my chuck so that I could hold a rectangular blank.

Nice turning – beautiful grain in the bottom – might be kind of hard to cover it up with grease!

Welcome to the GBOC!
I will work hard on my next post of the grese brox history, where I will gather all the recipies…
(Have to remember I’m on pension due to health, so I have up and down days).
Wonderful to see the creativity on these boxes, all seems to take a little twist each time.

Don’t worry, having made the box, you qualify as fully fledged member of the world wide GBOC. Welcome!
That Bubinga is real nice.
