If you were to look at my other projects you will see a pair of bedroom lamps I made. The bedroom lamps replaced some fugly lamps we were given. I took those lamps apart and used the hardware to make the lamps for the bedroom. Those old lamps had a center wood turning in them that I liked so I kept them.
A few years later, I decided to use those turnings in making lamps for our living room. I had just rescently aquired a lathe and I was able to place these exisiting turnings on the lathe to sand off the years of grime and finish that was on them. What I found was beautiful red oak. I had some 1/2 scrap oak lying around so I put together a couple of bases for these turnings and purchased all new lamp hardware. The better half picked out some nice shades for them after bringing one of the completed lamps to Menards.
Another one of those projects I have had done for some time, but wanted to share.
