My wife asked the other day if I could make a few pens for the teachers at the elementary school our two younger daughters attend. I told her I would do it, but that I wasn’t going to “just turn a bunch of pens”, I wanted to make something nice if I was going to do it.
I spent much of this past weekend just getting the pen blanks prepped. I’ve now completed four of the pens.

Very nice indeed! I haven’t lathed a pen. Doing to many little angels at the moment! What kind of wood are these? Do you make your own blank. The teachers are going to love you.

Thank you.
I did make the blanks myself. the first two are a combination of bloodwood and maple and the third is a walnut pen with a single celtic knot.

Nice! I’ve never done the inlay on a slim pen. I’ll have to try it.

Thank you Matt.
One of the teachers that received one of these stopped by for my daughter’s birthday party over the weekend and thanked me again for making it.
Just a word of warning… a lathe is a blackhole for your cash!
