After my wife took an art class class at Marc Adams School of Woodworking, she received a certificate of accomplishment. And since she fell in love with G&G art glass, I figured a G&G frame was in order. The frame is walnut and ebony, and is hung by leather straps. All mortise and tenon, and the straps are friction fit in the routed slots. The ebony is all hand cut and shaped and sanded. The ebony was planed to thickness on a small jig in my vise. The pieces were so small I thought a jig and router would be too much. It was actually kinda relaxing making them.

I like the look of that. nice job. Until the last pic I was thinking the top crossing piece was like a small shelf, I see it was just shaped, had a detail cut into it, and was overlaid. It gives a nice effect. The ebony part was lost on me anyhow, it seemed it took away from the absolutely clean lines of the frame, but that is me. I’ve been told I am weird before.

So what did the Wife make?

Thanks for posting.

Thanks. She made some very nice leaded art glass. Has her own shop now, and we are going to be working on some lamps and/or clocks.

Nice work Will!

When I made my G&G mirror frames, I pondered over the hanging straps. Looks like you fully embraced the style.

That is a really special frame. The proud details match and compliment the certificate. The leather straps are fantastic. I’m always looking for ways to incorporate leather into my woodworking.

This is just splendid, thanks so much for sharing.
