My small dude (9yrs old) asked for some more mature drawer and door pulls than the ceramic animals that he has had since babyhood. He has a hockey thing going on in his room, so it was an easy choice what to do. Real pucks were too large so we cut 3/4” plywood rounds with a hole saw.
He did all the drill press work…..safety glasses and ear protection in tact. I made sure the table and workpiece were well clamped down. Aside from some smoke and burning, he did great.

pic #2 The ply was recycled from a plumbing repair to a shower drain…you can see the u-shaped cut for the pipe.
pic #3 We added texture to the edges of the puck, like a real one has, by gluing on some sawdust from the drilling out of the pucks.
Prime and paint, epoxy a machine nut in the middle and a logo sticker to cover the hole. This is his closet door done
Will post the entire set when finished.
He is really getting into this hobby, though he needs to work on his team loyalties…..Canucks before hated habs!!

Mar 2011
Little update with the finished pics….it is a rainy lazy Sunday in Vancouver
The dresser and side table are just Ikea cheapies, but the cool pulls make it his own
He took the pics

I’m guessing that the store was out of Red Wing stickers and you guys just went with what they had lying around;-) Just kidding.
That is a great and well executed idea.

Canucks pounded the Hurricanes a couple Sundays ago….I felt bad for Cam Ward as he is a great goalie stuck on a so so defensive team.

Great idea Scott, I’m so disapointed I couldn’t be quicker on the team bandwagon stuff, But then…..what are Canuck fans anyway if not tardy ??

My parents grew up in Montreal, I grew up in Toronto. My dad knew half the Montreal team, and my mom had dated Maurice “Rocket” Richard. Needless to say, they were rabid Habs fans.
Back then, the two main teams wre the Leafs and the Habs, so on hockey night my family and friends gathered in the living room in front of the TV and screamed at each other.
I was in a bit of a quandry; cheer for Montreal and my friends wouldn’t speak to me. Cheer for Toronto and risk getting tossed out of the house.

I took up reading.

That was smart Tiny, avoid rabid fans whenever possible.

Awesome drawer pulls, if I say so myself :o)

Shouldn’t that read “Canadien Drawer Pulls”?

No Don, that was no mistake…my darn little brat put the habs sticker on, not me :)
Did you make the Canadiens clock yourself? Does it shut down automatically in May/June?
Just kidding, the Canucks go golfing come playoff time, right Glen… and you can feel the people jump off the bandwagon.

Thanks for the comment Abbott

Cheers guys

the best ideas are always the simple ones! those are great and i am definately stealing this idea. All except the one major thing…mine will have a good team with yellow, black and a Big B on the pucks ;)
Here is a funny video the bruins did with “those” guys in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cr89xbl26g

I’ve seen that vid before, very funny
We have Burnaby Winter Club near us that uses the Bruins colors…wife won’t let me move my boy over yet, hopefully soon.
Shoot me a pm if you want some more details on the handles….such as I made small disks for the back to give some clearance room off the drawer front so you can grab the puck and open the drawer.
