Pantry upgrade

I finished my Pantry upgrade. The “before” picture really shows the mess it replaces. The drawers are 1/2” Baltic Birch with Half-Lap Mitered corners trimmed with Peruvian Walnut. I thought when I designed this you could could get dowels in any size and wood you wanted. I ended up making a “dowel-maker” and made all of my own to match the drawer trim.

The 13 drawers are Blu-Motion. I got a great tip from Rich for ordering them and saved over $200 compared to my original source.

I built and assembled everything in my shop to keep my install time to a minimum. I hope these aren’t too many images. I rally enjoy seeing the “guts” of other projects.

Great upgrade and use of space. I like the walnut trim there, nice work. Is the base proud to be a step intentional? My wife noticed. She be short.

That came out great. I really love it. Pantry space is so valuable, and to make it efficient like you did is awesome.

Also, thanks for letting me know the tip for ordering from Woodworker Express paid off. It’s nice to know that my endless blathering helps someone out occasionally.

Smart and functional, winner winner.

Don’t know what your plans are about length of stay there, but it will be a pleasure to use while there, and when you move they call that kind of upgrade $MONEY$

Nice work, thanks for posting, and Congrats on your 3.

Well, now you have challenged me. This is something to consider. Parts of our pantry could use some of your loving technique.

Pat, I used the set Infinity Tools sells. I spent a bit of time practicing and getting used to them.

Once I understood the relationship between the two bits and using some jigs I made it’s a pretty quick process now.

Also, I have the Woodpecker Micro-Adjuster on my router table. It might be the most useful “luxury” purchase I’ve made so far. When thousands of an inch make the difference between a sloppy mess and a perfect fit that thing is really sweet.

Woodcox, That bottom piece just developed that way when I started sketching ideas to use that space inside the closet.

I did one sketch with that bottom piece and it instantly felt right. Then it dawned on me that it could be a step for the next owners…

Wow, what a transformation! When I redo my pantry, which is on my short list, I hope it turns out half that nice!

Beautiful build. I use blu motion for all my drawers. What was your source? They are a little pricey but I love them.
