Wood storage

I had a simple rolling cart for sheet goods and wood storage but the problem was the piece I wanted was always at the back of the pile. My second problems is my shop is my garage and I hung my yard tools on the wall which required me to move my wood cart to access. Looking at various project on Lumberjock and Pinterest I came up with this design.

It is eight feet long and just under seven feet in height (to fit under garage door). It has a 3/4”plywood front surface with 2×8’s divided (and backed) by 1/2”plywood on 3” steel casters. I hinged it to the wall (to stabilize and keep it in place) and is flush to the wall when out of the way but swings out to provide access to my sheet goods & other wood. It moves easily one handed fully loaded with tools hanging on the front surface. Now I have acces to everything without moving a bunch of stuff.

Cool idea. My solution for saving space is mounting my miter and table saws on a rolling bench (just getting started). But when I start acquiring wood I am def gonna keep this idea in mind. Good work!

I need to do something – but I need something that rolls out to see everything better.
