Butterfly Leaf Dining Table

This “Butterfly Leaf” dining table features a leaf that folds and stores inside the table when not needed!. No more finding a place to store the leaf. It matches the dining chairs I posted here previously.

You can watch the entire build process on my Woodcademy show, streaming free on Amazon Prime. and download the plans for free.

I used butterfly spline keys to attach the breadboard edges of the table top, and the slides for the top are actually milled into the table apron.

Thanks! The folding leaf concept has been around for at least 100 years, but as far as I know, avoiding the slides by making them part of the apron is a new twist.

Thank you! In the video I do reference a couple of errors I made along the way.

Nice to see you picking up sponsors and upping the skill level of your projects!

I appreciate the kind words and your support. Doing the show is a lot of fun but also a lot of work!
Next time you are watching, leave a review, they are a big help in getting the show promoted.

Thanks Mike. Check out the show, I used a butterfly spline instead of a mortise and tenon to connect the breadboard ends.

Thank you! There are any number of butterfly table designs out there, but they all have slides inside the apron which complicates the folding leaf system. My solution really simplifies the build.
