This is an older project I did some time ago. No fancy shop tools used. Just a Jig Saw, Skill Saw and 1/3 sheet finishing sander. All I had at the time.
This is about when my oldest daughter was 2 or 3 she needed a step stool to get up to the bathroom sink to brush her teeth. She had just been sitting on the counter and it just looked akward. I saw a picture of this stool in some magazine a made mine own version. This is just some pine boards for the sides that are painted white. The tops of the steps are actually an Oak stair tread cut to size. The finish on the oak is BLO and let that sit for a week or so and them I got back to working on it and top coated it with several coats of Poly to protect it from the water that was sure to get spilled on it.

Nice stool. I like the handle for grabbing it too. I have made a few stools and sometimes they can be hard to get a hold of if there is not much overhang. Thanks for sharing. I’ll incorporate that handle in my future stools.

I like the look of the painted sides with the finished treads. Nice job.

That’s a nice stool and I’m sure that your daughter loved it.

All kids need a step stool – lets ‘em get into more stuff! Nice.
