This is a surprise gift for Cindy – the cashier at the restaurant we go to for coffee every week. I found out she was interested in UFO’s and space craft so I made her this lidded box.

It is 5 1/2” dia.x 3 3/4” high and made from a spalted block laying under my work bench..it is maple, I think. The finial is walnut from another project. The inlay in the holes is blue azurite stone. It is finished with clear gloss lacquer and I will buff and wax it after about a week of dry time.

I used the rest of that block to make a holder for 9 one pound lead weights for my old Howe scale. There are some of the new obelisk weights with the scale in that last shot too. That block is coated with satin lacquer.

Cheers, Jim

Nice touch with the azurite Jim. This should send her into another dimension.

I’m sure Cindy will like her “UFO”, and thinking of a use for the remaining block was smart.
Good work Jim.

Great job Buddy.

Bob.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.
