I made this sandbox from plans from a wood working book I picked up at Menards. Just PT 2×4’s. I added the plywood top so the neighborhood cats and racoon’s don’t use it as a liter box.

cool looking sandbox…i’ve never seen a wooden one with a hinged lid before – looks great. The lid isnt going to fall on your son is it??? i’d make sure it was secured somehow

The lid is secured to the playfort directly behind it…. No risk.

I’d love to have had one of those when I was a kid. Good thinking puttin the lid on it. It keeps the cats out!

Good job on the sandbox. I built the same one back in the spring for my two. I use a tarp and bungee cords to cover it up, never thought about attaching the lid to it. Good idea.
