Yes, I jumped on the Grease Box bandwagon (aka tallow box). I thought it would be fun to make out of scrap wood and also a skill builder for me as I used more hand tools than I normally do.
The butterfly key is purple-heart and the remainder is white oak. I used a brass “chicago bolt” for the hinge, and epoxied it in place. Originally I wanted to make it more deceptive by using the locking tab of metal seen in Abdel's box but I didn’t leave myself enough space at the hinge end. Lesson learned.
Fitting the key was hard on the eyes, I don’t know how I’m going to do this when I’m 70. I left the project unfinished, I may put a piece of felt in the cavity to cover up the forstner bit pilot holes.
Thanks for looking!
