My grandaughter Maddie’s favorite color is purple. I made her a chess set out of birdseye maple and purple heart

The boards are nice; the pieces are SuhWeet! ;-)

These look great!

OK, so I’m a total LJ rookie here so I don’t know if I am even allowed to ask questions here, but I have a couple of quick questions about your project. I was wanting to make a checkerboard for my bro-in-law but have not a clue how to do this… To me, I would think it is similar to a segmented cutting board.

If you don’t mind me asking, what are the sizes of the squares? What is the thickness of the boards? What did you finish it with?

Thanks for your reply.

Beautiful set! The pieces are very uniform. How did you turn them?
