I built this for my wife’s friend last month; she’s due a few days from now.

Wood magazine plan

Cherry, blonde shellac and paste wax.

Great job and nothing like on being on, or in this case ahead of schedule.

Now a word on SIDS, Brad send me a PM please there is a mod you may have to do before delivery, as I cannot see it in your project pictures.

Otherwise have a read of this project.

Beautiful cradle and wife. Looks like a great job building your new baby’s cradle. I hope you have lot’s of wonderful memories rocking your children to sleep. That’s a treasure that will be given down for many generations to come. Keeping building treasures and being the best husband and dad ever. Thanks for inspiring

Oh yeah, holes are drilled near the bottom to allow for air movement.

This one isn’t for us; it’s for a friend of my wife. The one I’m working on now is for my wife’s brother. We’re planning on having another kid next year, so I’ll build one for us then!

Beautiful cradle and happy recipient! I built a cradle for my grandson before this past Christmas and used the leg and end panel designs from the Wood Magazine plan. I changed it up a bit and used horizontal rails with just small gaps between the rails and glad I after reading the CO2 issue. Whew. I also enlarged the whole thing to fit a larger mattress than the Wood plan did (if I remember correctly, I used an 18×36”). I like the look of the solid panels you did. Nicely done!
