Several years back I had to remove one of my chokecherry trees and saved a few pieces for carving. Last week going through my wood stash I found the wood and thought I would give it a try. Assuming that the wood had dried I squared off the five inch diameter pieces and was able to come up with 3 boot blanks. As I was carving I realized
that the wood had not cured fully so was concerned that in the re-assembly of the boot pieces there might be a few twisting problems. Onward with the carving.
The chokecherry wood is a beautiful wood for grain and carving. The boots were finished with a French polish from Lee Valley.
A variation on a theme!
Enjoy!
