Wooden Geared Clocks

Just wanted to share a passion of mine. Sometime in the 80’s I was fascinated by the idea of wooden geared clocks. I tried a Thomas clock which never ran right and a few others had some success but until I came in contact with Clayton Boyer (lisaboyer.com) I didn’t have quality clocks that worked. I have twenty or so ticking all over the house(my wife is a saint supporting this passion). If you have ever considered trying one of these I can recommend Clayton’s clocks.

I have tried one (not a Clayton’s) and it sits waiting to be finished. I have done his Bots and enjoyed the build and all three were successful. I see you did his new “Swingtime clock”. All of yours are masterpieces. I would love to complete one. That Swingtime really catches my eye…. Great work on your part.

Those are absolutely gorgeous! Would it be possible to post a video of them working? I might have to get a scroll saw at some point, there are quite a few projects I’d like to try that require one. I can’t imagine anyone getting tired of having such beautiful artwork all around the house.

Thanks to all who have posted great comments on my Wooden Geared Clocks post. Bringing wood to life is always thrill. Many people are into kinetic sculptures as well (I’m not as much) but Clayton has a number of cool offerings along that line as well. If you want to see them run many of my clocks are featured there. Point your browser to lisaboyer.com if you have an interest in these wonderful mechanisms.

Gorgeous works of art. Who cares if they keep accurate time?
