Sofa Table

My wife and I are trying to sell our home and some of the furniture does not fit in with the overall decor of the home. So, having a log home I wanted to do a unique piece of furniture that would emulate both the home and its setting surrounded by 8 acres of trees. One of the pieces that did not fit in was a sofa table that just seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. So my wife asked if I could create something unique and fitting of the home and other furniture. So I drew a picture of a table with a tree silhouette. I always try to reuse wood of any kind, and so I used some old leftover oak flooring and I had some glass doors left over from taking apart a broken wall unit. The center silhouette was drawn by hand onto a piece of 1/4” plywood, drilled and the painstakingly cut out on a scroll saw. Once it was done, I sanded the piece to eliminate rough edges and then painted it with a hammered bronze spray paint. The whole table was assembled, sanded, stained and polyurethaned with a clear satin finish. Now contemplating whether to donate it after the sale of the house or selling it.

Oh my gosh – shades of Frank Lloyd Wright and so well done, that is destined to be a museum piece

Thank you for the accolades. Does anyone know what criteria they are looking at to pick top 3. I try to use repurposed wood and make them into one of a kind pieces. I see an awful lot of talent out there that rivals anything I could come up with but I see alot of them passed by.

Do a search on “daily top 3” and you find plenty of discussion. Basically it’s chosen on a weighted scale of comments, favorites, etc, nothing on talent or artistry as far as I know.

Of course Billy shows that pure talent and artistry does get a DT3 rating so maybe human eyes are a deciding factor 8^)

After completing this project, I have decided to create a table and chair set. I also plan to recreate another one of these but for all three projects use the Tree of Life instead of random trees. So, look for future posts along these lines.
