candy dish

A coworker asked me if I could make some candy dishes in the spirit ( joke get it) and after some thought I came up with the gooliish idea of what better way to serve candy to little monsters than in a old fashion coffin. Plus I have never had the chance to work with angles other than your typical boring picture frames. I’m unsure if i really did it correctly but it at lest looks good to my untrained eye.
I used your basic 1/2 in mdf with a few round over bit to smooth out the edges. The hardest thing about this project once the angles were figured out was trying to get it glued up. I simply applied glue to the top three pieces ..let it sit for a few min till it was very tacky the just held in place for a few min by hand. I then attached the bottom 3 pieces the same way but rather than wait I glued a over sized 1/4 mdf to the entire pieces and weighted down for a hour.. it was later trimmed via a router trim bit. So all in all no nails.
A few coats of fast drying lacquer and done ..
Thanks for looking

Great idea for holloween candy dishes.

Keep it up.

Cool idea! I suspect the kids will focus on contents, but parents should appreciate the “dish”.
