Bark Inclusion Bowl

Bigger the dog… louder the bark. I love how this bowl turned out! Looking at the log, I could appreciate that there was a branch collar around what appeared to be a previous pruning. I didn’t appreciate, however, how the tree had tried to heal around the wound or how deep the resulting bark inclusion extended. As I began to reveal the extent, I expected loosening, but there is no instability around the “knot”. And wow, what an effect. I think the feathering in the inclusion is just stunning.

The bowl is approximately 10” diameter and stands a little over 4” deep. We presented it as a gift to my wife’s aunt and uncle in appreciation of their years of hosting family reunions and Fourth of July celebrations.

This is a very beautiful bowl. I like that inclusion and that you left the edge as natural as possible.

Beautiful bowl! I love the bark inclusion. The natural character of the wood was captured.

Keep up the great work.
