"What's Trump...?"

I made these after realizing that during our family rounds of pinochle, it seemed that “What’s Trump…?” came up, like 4 times per hand. Now after trump is called, this cube is put on its correct side, so that you merely have to look and see instead of asking.

It is Cherry wood with Paduak Diamond and Heart, Ebony Spade and Club. It measures about 1 1/4” square and is a great use of shop scraps that I cannot bring myself to trash.

Now the most common phrase around the table is, “Who dealt this crap…!”

Clever idea! I haven’t played pinochle in years but this would have been a great addition. Beautiful work!

Cool block! Another comment for card players is, “This looks more like a foot than a hand!”

Thanks, Rookslide! We play every two weeks or so, if we can.

Thank you Dark_Lightning!

Neat block D’Newt.. however, with my luck I’d bet that clubs or diamonds would be trumps…

Never could get the hang of that game. My Dad tried teaching me back when I was young but did not stick. Wish he were still here to give it another try. Nice work. Good idea.

Never played the game (or even heard of it)... Used to play 500’s at work during lunch time… for sheep stations.

We always played in groups of 5 or 6 and 99% of the final calls were either 10 of a suit, 10 no trumps or open misere... anyone familiar with 500 will know what I mean… When my partner(s) called 10 hearts I would have loved your block to remind me of trumps, as I usually had none in my hand.
Surviving our lunchtime card session was harder to survive than the great depression.

Well, we are even. I ever heard of 500s (sounds kinda like bridge, which I never learned). Sounds like fun, though.
