Ever faced with “The hardware store didn’t have one, again!”? Well the local big box didn’t have a double 240v outlet cover. So I shrugged, and went home to whip this out. It’s more bamboo (love this stuff!). Best part it was quick. I think it took half an hour tops. Enjoy!

I like the idea. Looks great.

Very cool cover. I think all ours in the shop should be like this.

Here’s an idea that has potential! I’ve got to check out bamboo – I hear a lot of people talking about it.

sorry to ruin this for you guys because it is very cool, but wood is combustible and electricity and combustible materials equals fire equals bad

Thanks for the comments everyone. Glad it ‘sparked’ your imaginations!
David, on one hand I appriciate your caution. On the other, you can get wood electric outlet covers at any big box. As long as you have no exposed wires and your connects are tight there is no spark. Besides, in a wood shop there is probably a greater threat from saw dust in the outlet than from the covers.
For the record: please don’t ever do anything you’re uncomfortable with, no matter who says it’s OK. Your safty is your own. And wood is Still Better! =)

Wood dust in the air or electrical components is infinitley more dangerous than that cover. It is not an electrical hazard.

Plastic is combustible too; I would say he is fine using a dense wood like bamboo.
