We had to cut down a Silver Maple recently that was beginning to cause issues with the deck built around it. Had someone take the large trunk for milling. The few pieces left I used for natural barriers in a few places. This larger chunk my wife thought would make a good perch / scratching post for her cats. Since it will reside on the patio it must have wheels so we can clean etc etc. So installed 4 wheels rated at 125lbs each because hey I had them in stock. LOL. Did not level the top, wife said she liked it natural. Did sand it smooth and finish with 6 coats of Spar Urethane just to seal the top up some. Bottom was painted for sealing purposes.

Have no idea how long this will last, but the cats seem to enjoy it and the wife likes the natural look. Maybe now the cats will scratch it, and not my cabinets? Well one can dream anyway…...

Oddly my wife’s concern was that the cats would be able to move this monster around the patio. Having tried to move it herself we have put that fear to rest. I somehow doubt they are suddenly going to get together as a team and push….

Never know. Mine love unfinished surfaces, and doorways to mark them. Have a cat sculptured wall in my bathroom. It looks like a cat in a field. LOL!

Yeah mine party hard all night. Marking the neighborhood and chasing the females. This one looks like he partied a tad bit too hard.

If you could work some Cat Nip into the finish, it might a big difference… for that BIG attraction…

Looks GOOD…

Dude. You’ve never heard of pancake paw? Those cats are living in a world of danger.

I’ve been looking for a stump with wheels (who hasn’t). Thing is, it’s missing the pneumatic lift I hoped for. Is that an option?

Too late, they have been doing that for years. Sounds like a herd of elephants some nights.
