Happy Birthday Scrappys Squirt!!!!!

Had to come up with a special cake for my daughters birthday.

Walnut Cake.

Walnut Lathe Shavings for the frosting.

Padauk Cake Plate.

Lots of fiber in this slice. hahaha

Picked up the cake cover at GoodWill. Made the base for it and decided to try something a little different. Piled Walnut chips on the bench (on wax paper) added glue, and more chips. Flattened. Cut to size for the back and inner layer of frosting. (Looks like Chocolate Graham Cracker Crust) For the top, I wrapped the edge with masking tape, filled the area on top with big shavings, and coated with super glue. (Looks like chocolate shavings)
Finnish is spray lacquer.

The plate is Padauk with 3 coats of wipe on poly and 3 coats of food safe wax. (the wax is for salad bowls)

Just having fun. Please leave all comments. Thanks for looking.

That looks good enough to eat.
My husband would think it was real, he once bought a bunch of roses for me for valentines day. since he had bought them a couple of days earlier than the actual day he looked after them and gave them water to make them last. What he didn’t realise was that they were fake !!!!!
Boy did I laugh when I heard how he had cared for them. He didn’t realise they were fake until I pointed it out to him. :-)

OMG this is so incredibly cute! I like the plate- I have been thinking about using a small walnut log to make little plates. Now I think I will- soon as the log dries out.

Yeah, you’d definitely want FOOD-SAFE finishes on that. Just in case, ya know. :D Now that’s thinking outside the box (but inside the dome). Nice job with the idea, AND the finish.

Great little project. The only thing to add is the birthday candle.
