I-have-various-projects-started-but-never-finished-for-various-reasons.
So-I-bench-them-and-send-them-to-the-shelf.
Well-this-piece-of-cedar-was-so-hard-to-chisel-carve-because-of-changing-grain-patterns-and-alternating-hard-to-soft-grain.
Plus-the-added-age-of-60yr.old.So-got-out-the-jack-hammer,sledge,hammer-drill,and-decided-this-piece-of-wood-was-not-going-to-get-the-best-of-me.This-project-was-supposed-to-help-me-relax-and-it-turned-into-a-all-out-war.
Started-out-as-a-sculpture-(absract)I-do-them-to-relax-LOL.
Well-3/4-the-way-through-it-wouldnt-you-know-out-jumps-Davey-Jones.
If-Jones-is-half-as-tough-as-this-wood-was.I-dont-care-to-meet-him.
I-think-I-going-to-look-for-a-nice-soft-piece-of-concrete-to-carve-next.
ITS-THE-LOCKER-FOR-YOU-DAVEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

It looks like you won the war, because it turned out great. I can see all the knots and different grain directions, so I’m sure you’re not exaggerating one bit on the toughness.

Wow!...I mean, WOW!!!

I seen an indian emerging from a tree. Incredibly scary talent you have there. Gonna have to “buddy” you just to follow along and hopefully find some courage to some day chase your talent. Man oh man…I am impressed!

Fantastic how you let the wood speak out.

I have to agree with dedvw- the eyes on this piece are marvelous.

When you lost it on this piece, apparently you went so far as to come full circle back to center, then made a masterpiece.

I just looked at this again this morning , and had to add that it reminds me of Davey Jones locker- I think Johnny Depp and pirates of the Carribbean movie- comes to mind for some reason?

she takes a couple of cups! That is really an amazing piece. It does not show any fight! You tamed that wood!
