I made this custom 4-sided island for my walk-in closet. The cabinet is made if maple plywood with pine face framing. The top is made from pine 2×6s that I finished with wipe-on poly.

I made the barn door hardware from scratch using aluminum flat bar, nylon wheels for screen doors, and readily available hardware.

2 sides have open shelves with adjustable shelf pins. The island can store 32+ pairs of shoes, which is awesome. It also has concealed storage behind the 2 sliding barn doors.

I have build plans available here and the video tutorial up on my channel here.
