Smallish carvers mallets. A friend lost an ash last summer and I am working through some small logs he gave me.

Those look great!

How do you finish your mallets? Are they just sanded smooth or do you apply a topcoat of some kind?

The turned mallets have a friction polish using wipe-on poly and then wax. The others just spray lacquer. I don’t expect either to hold up to pounding. I could have left them unfinished.
