My most recent project, I made this Zebrawood hourglass with 3 spindles I designed and turned on the lathe. The hourglass is seated in the base with rubber grommets and was given enough space for the wood to expand/contract.
I finished it with 3 coats of tung oil buffed to a very high gloss. The interior edges of the bases were given an ogee profile, with the outer edges rounded over. It stands just under 9 1/2” tall and 5 1/4” across at the widest points.
As always, thanks for looking!
