Previously I summitted a piece called My Guitar Stand. This piece is to go along with it. My love for walnut goes way back. Over 40 years ago my father bought 5 trees of walnut for $125. We have been making projects from it ever since.

Looks nice! What kind of finish did you use?

They make a beautiful combination.

That’s a great story about still making projects from those trees.

Do you mix the Tung Oil yourself or do you use a particular product?

I would have to buy a nicer guitar if I owned that stand! Nice work.

Wouldn’t you want to build one? I would.

Roger,
I’m not that much of a purist. I used Minwax Tung Oil Finish. I don’t think it’s pure tung oil. On the can, it says it contains aliphatic hydrocarbons.

Roger, saying that the stand and stool look nice is like saying that the Mona Lisa is a pretty picture. Your stool and stand are fantastic!!!! I really like the walnut, the design and the finish is spectacular. Great job!

rikkor,

If I built it, it wouldn’t be a nicer guitar. I’m afraid I haven’t quite honed my skills to that level.

But I’ll send you my mailing address if you’d like to donate any axe that you have built!

For my next project, I’m thinking of making a foot stool to go along this set. Some guitarist use it prop up their right foot while playing. Looking for ideas. I don’t copy someone’s design, but I like to pull them all together and come up with my own.

a beautiful set.
You story of the tree reminded me of the giant walnut trees that came down on our house during the tornado of ‘79. HUGE trees… and my brother cut them up for firewood before the wood people arrived.

Very nice job. Those stools are not easy. Sounds like you got a bargain on the trees.
