Thought I would try a little different approach to the topic. Pretty straight forward, got the oak off the rack at the Home Depot. Selected the boards based on the patterns on the edges of the board. Never saw a medullary ray that I didn’t like. Wound up with psuedo quarter sawn look. I also liked the variation in colors of the stock caused by the random nature of how material eventually makes it to the store. I find that most of the oak at the normal wood source is all pretty much identical in color since is often from the same stack from the same tree. Got a painter’s pallete to use as a pattern. Got some nice rubber feet from McMaster Carr. Finished with four coats salad bowl finish. Thanks for looking.
