This sea chest was my most recent project based on a traditional sea chest design.

Constructed of book-matched black walnut with cherry accents, the sea chest includes a display tray with shallow drawers for challenge coin storage, a built-in till for storage of other small items and sword mounts in the lid for two USCG Officer swords and scabbards. (The scabbards aren’t shown because the mounts need some additional adjusting.) Overall dimensions are 42” x 20” x 20”.

Other features include traditional, hand forged blanket chest hinges purchased from D. C. Mitchell in Wilmington, DE. (http://dcmitchell.org/) and hand-cut dovetail joinery on the box corners.

I like that angled body! That rope/wood handle is magnificant!
