This project started as a kitchen job but quickly involved most of the house. The house is about 50 years old and was built with no insulation in the exterior walls and little in the ceiling. We decided to remove the wall between the existing kitchen and dining room, close the existing doorway to the kitchen (covered with sheet in photo) and install a pass through to further open up the rooms. My original plan was to remove part of the wall where the pass through was installed but that would have created a problem with the existing hardwood floor and of course a new longer header. While we were at it I talked the owner (my son) into gutting all the walls on the whole floor and installing insulation and new drywall. The kitchen cabinets were purchased and i installed them as well as all the trim and new porcelain tile floor in the kitchen, foyer and den on the lower level. This transformed this house and inspired my son to start in with this obsession we all enjoy so much. I proud to say he hit the ground running with some very nice projects right from the start.
